Warwickshire town, 9 miles S of Coventry.
Elizabeth Stevenson (later Elizabeth Gaskell) was a boarder at a school at Barford, near Warwick, from 1822 to 1824, when she moved with the school to Stratford upon Avon.
Walter Savage Landor (1775-1864) poet, born at Ipsley Court.
John Masefield was a boarding student at Warwick School (then sometimes referred to as King's School) from January 1888 to July 1891.
