Worcestershire town, 11 miles S of Worcester.
In Henry Fielding's novel Tom Jones (1749) the hero spends the night at The White Lion Hotel, situated in the High Street, with possibly disastrous consequences.
The town is featured in the work of William Symonds (1818-1887), who wrote extensively of the area in his two novels, Malvern Chase (1881) and Hanley Castle (1883).
