Town, 7 miles SE of Birmingham.

Formerly a County Borough in Warwickshire, since 1974 a metropolitan borough within the West Midlands.

The family of W.H. Auden (1907-1973) moved to Solihull in 1909 and he lived here until the age of eight, when he went off to boarding school.

Joanna Toye (1957-), freelance writer and scriptwriter on The Archers BBC radio series moved to Solihull and completed her education from 1970.

The husband of poet and novelist, Caroline Clive (1801-1873), was the Rev. Archer Clive, who was Rector of Solihull from 1838-1852.
