Key Stage 2 History resources for teachers

This page lists those themes, or parts of themes, which could be integrated with units from the Schemes of work for History at Key Stage 2 (opens in a new window). Although you may be teaching outside of the non-statuory scheme, the links to the units in the tables below give a general guide to the historical topics covered by the theme.

In addition to the themes on this list, the local focus of Shropshire Routes to Roots should be useful in helping Key Stage 2 pupils to learn "'about significant people, events and places from both the recent and more distant past...[and] about change and continuity in their own area".

Themes often contain teacher's resources (such as galleries of images, links and further reading), worksheets and glossaries suitable for the target age group. Where these are available, this is indicated with an x in the tables below.

Note that all the pages on Shropshire Routes to Roots, including worksheets, are 'printer friendly', meaning they will print out without unnecessary logos or links and as such can be easily distributed to a class in a paper form.
