anniversary An anniversary is something which happens every year to remember an event in the past
Armistice Day Armistice Day was the day fighting ended in World War One
cease fire A cease fire is when people stop firing
Cenotaph A cenotaph is a special memorial which remembers some one buried elsewhere. There is a big cenotaph in London. The queen goes to The Cenotaph on Remembrance Day to watch veterans march past.
memorial A memorial is a place where people are remembered
poppy A poppy is a red flower which we wear to remember people who died in World War One
Remembrance Day Remembrance Day is the 11th day of the 11th month. This means 11th November. On Remembrance Day we remember those who died in World War One.
symbol A symbol is a picture which reminds us of something
World War One

World War One was a big war which started in 1914 and ended in 1918. Many people from around the world were killed.

veteran

A veteran is some one who fought in a war.

wreath

A wreath is a circle of flowers or poppies. We lay a wreath at the bottom of a memorial on Remembrance Day
