Changing face of Shropshire: Prisoner of War camps in Shropshire

During the two World Wars many hundreds of Prisoners of war were lodged in Shropshire's 18 POW camps. These were not all in occupation at the same time or during both wars, but the list below indicates the number and location of these camps. Camp numbers were reused as the camps were closed.

Eden Camp An award winning museum in Malton, North Yorkshire. The museum is an original Prisoner of War camp built in 1942. The site has lots of photographs and information about the particular camp and the life and history of POWs in general.
