Park Hall Camp: Mrs. Wynne Corrie
Mrs Corrie was married to the Hon. Stapleton Cotton at the time she acquired Park Hall, and did not marry Alfred Wynne Corrie until 1886.
She was extremely wealthy, and did a great deal of charity work in and around Oswestry. She would donate gifts to Morda hospital, make sure that all newborn children in the area received a gift, and the poor and needy were provided with hot soup, delivered by a chauffeur in the Rolls Royce!
She held an annual summer picnic for all the local children in the grounds of the Hall, and the Christmas pheasant for the needy was most welcome.
As she grew older she became rather overweight and had a lift constructed to convey her to and from her bedroom on the 1st floor.
One June morning in 1913, she got into the lift chair as usual to descend to the ground floor. There was a sudden crack and the rope broke, sending her crashing down the lift shaft. She remained conscious, but the shock was too great, and two days later she died of her injuries
