NATIONAL SOCIETY FOR WOMEN'S SUFFRAGE

1872
The rapid growth of the Women's Suffrage Movement calls for more complete and extensive organisation than has hitherto been accomplished. The urgent necessity for such organisation has been long felt and recently expressed by Mr JACOB BRIGHT, M.P,who has charge of the WOMEN'S DISABILITIES BILL*,and it is in compliance with his request, and that of most of the leading Provincial Committees, that the Central Committee has been formed.

The sole aim of the Committee is to remove the Political Disabilities of Women. It endeavours to this object:-

1st.- By constituting itself a central medium of communication between the various Provincial and Local Committees, and the Members having charge of the Bill, in order to afford them the most energetic and opportune support both in and out of Parliament.

2ndly. - By aiding in the formation of new Provincial and Local Committees.

3rdly. - By acting as a centre for the collection and diffusion of information with regard to the progress of the movement in all parts of the country.

The purpose of the Committee thus being to aid and not supplant Local and Provincial Committees, general co-operation and renewed exertions on their part are cordially invited.

The Central Committe includes a General and an Executive Committee.

The Executive Committee consists of Members selected from time to time; and of the following ex officio Members: (1) All Members of Parliament who are on the General Committee; (2) All Members of Executive Committees connecting themselves with the Central throughout the country; and (3) Single Delegates appointed by local Associations to represent them on the Committee.

A subscription of any amount constitutes Membership of the Society
