POPULATION, &c. - By the returns made to Government at the census of 1841, Shropshire contained 119,357 males, and 119,657 females - total, 239,014; exhibiting an increase over the returns of 1831 of 16,511 inhabitants. The annual value of Real Property in this county, as assessed to the Poor Rates in 1815, amounted to £1,037,988., and in 1841 to £1,170,008.
