Captain Edward Hunt, Agnes Hunt's brother, was friends with the Pryse family, who owned the estate where Flora's family worked. It was a result of this friendship, that Miss Hamer was taken to Baschurch by Sir Edward and Lady Pryse in the beginning of November 1909.

Arriving at Baschurch:

I remember quite well my bed was behind the door, and it was then I started to cry, all the other children were busy getting into bed, but I wanted to go home. I wanted my Father, Mother and to go home with Sir and Lady Pryse. Then, one of the Sisters came, she was in blue uniform, and somehow, got me to undress.

Sister Emily Goodford:

She was not very young when I knew her, her hair was greyish, brushed back off her face and pinned at the top of her head. She had a habit of rubbing her finger and thumb together as she walked along "the Shed" (they were not called wards) and as she did this it made a noise like a shot and I remember we children trying to do it.

Mr Robert Jones:

I remember sitting on this wooden table once more, with Sister Hunt, and a short little man with white hair examining my leg. He was very jolly and talked a lot.
