What eventually happened to the Davies family?

The story continues ...

The Guardians of the Atcham Union thought that school and education were very important for the children of the workhouse. They hoped that by educating the children, it would stop them following in the footsteps of their parents and ending up in the workhouse with their families.

The children who went to this workhouse in Shropshire were lucky, as they managed to get an education. But this was not true for workhouses everywhere. Some Poor Law Guardians didn't think that education was important.
