3c. Murderous Mapp: Selection from the original trial evidence

The Day of Mapp's Arrest
Tuesday, 24th December, 1867

After the area had been examined by the police, the body was brought back to the Tankerville Inn, in the village.

Suspicion immediately fell on John Mapp. He was the last person known to have seen Catherine Lewis. Police Constable Edward Jones went to Mapp's house and searched around:
