The story of writing themes

From the first cave drawings to the use of email and phone 'txt' messages, the way we communicate has changed enormously. The story of writing themes trace developments which have been so significant as to affect the very way we think and interpret our world. What does the style of a document suggest about the attitudes and historical context of its writer? How do we interpret written historical evidence?
