Medicine and health themesIn medical terms, Shropshire is famous for the Robert Jones
and Agnes Hunt Orthopaedic Hospital, near Oswestry. This learning
package looks at the history and development of this institution
through the life of one of its founders, Dame Agnes Hunt, the
eyes of one its earliest patients, Flora Hamer and some of the
archive documents held at the hospital itself. Many of the images in this package and much of the information has come from 'Healing and Hope; 100 years of 'the Orthopaedic' compiled by Marie Carter, Health Sciences Librarian at the Francis Costello Library, Robert Jones and Agnes Hunt Orthopaedic Hospital, Oswestry.
The Medicine and health package was jointly funded by the Wellcome Trust and Shropshire Council. The Routes to Roots team would like to thank Marie Carter, Health Sciences Librarian at the Francis Costello Library, Robert Jones and Agnes Hunt Orthopaedic Hospital, for all of her help and assistance with the construction of this learning package. |
