Victorian crime and detection themes

This page lists the different themes within the Victorian Crime and Detection package. Although London villains such as Jack the Ripper are famous, Shropshire had its own share of criminals. In this package, you can learn about the child-killer, John Mapp or follow the trials and decisions which led a poor Shropshire hill farmer to a life of crime. Find out how the Victorian justice system became increasingly adept at prosecuting such people, and how institutions such as the workhouse were set up to look after the poor.
