Shropshire village, 2 miles NE of Oswestry.
The village has a picturesque mediaeval castle complete with moat alongside the main road. The castle was built by the Fitzwarine family in the thirteenth century and figures in the romance called Foulques Fitwarin. John F. N. Dovaston (1782-1854) produced his own version of this, based on Whittington Castle, in 1812.
The great hymn writer William Walsham How (1823-1897) was rector here for many years.
