Haughmond


Shropshire hamlet, 3 miles NE of Shrewsbury.

The beautiful ruins of Haughmond Abbey, which was founded in the twelfth century, lie on the lower slopes of Haughmond Hill. John Audelay (early 15th century) was a poet and chantry priest of the abbey.
