Shropshire hamlet, 6 miles SE of Shrewsbury.
All that remains of the former mansion house, home of the Newport family, is a most impressive tower (said to be a summer house) set into the wall of the former garden. The poet, philosopher and diplomat Edward Herbert (1583-1648) was born here and spent the first nine years of his life in Eyton.
