Warwickshire town, 4 miles N of Warwick.
The Castle was originally a twelfth century wooden fortress and it was rebuilt in stone before being demolished during the English Civil War. The town has been immortalised as the setting and title of a novel by Sir Walter Scott (1771-1832), published in 1821.
