Hughley

Shropshire village, 5 miles SW of Much Wenlock.

The village and the church particularly were immortalised by A. E. Housman (1859-1936) in A Shropshire Lad (1896). The church of St. John the Baptist may not have the steeple that Housman refers to but it does have a beautifully carved screen and some ancient stained glass by way of compensation.
