Shropshire village, 5 miles SW of Market Drayton. A most attractive village with many half-timbered houses and an ancient church with unusual octagonal tower.
The novelist Mary Cholmondeley (1859-1925) was born at what is now The Old Rectory across the road from St. Luke's Church and spent the first thirty years or so of her life in this North Shropshire village. In fact this house was built for Reginald Heber (1783-1826), the poet and hymn writer, who was then Rector but later became Bishop of Calcutta.
