An introduction to using resources on this website
A wide range of e-texts are available on this website. Many are complete works, but there are also selections and sample chapters. There is a list in author order. They are in XHTML format (as this page is) and can be read online or downloaded free of charge. Some of the files are quite large and may take some time to open-up if you choose to read them online. File sizes are given as a guide. Downloading for reading later may be the preferred option and this can be typically achieved by calling up an option box. If you have a mouse and it is configured for left click to select, right clicking the link to the desired e-text will give you this option.
The original printed texts have mainly come from the West Midlands Creative Literature Collection, held at Shrewsbury Library, Shropshire. There is a complete catalogue of the printed collection on this website. Printed works have been obtained from other sources including the Birmingham authors collection held at Birmingham Central Library, England.
