Dawley

Shropshire town, .

Originally a self-contained small town in East Shropshire, it was the focal point for the planning of a Dawley New Town, re-named Telford.

Edith Pargeter went to school here, at the Church of England School, before going on to the Coalbrookdale High School for Girls. On leaving school she worked in a chemist's shop in Dawley until her war service in 1940.
